TECHGRIP (Cold Applied) is an antiskid system that can be laid cold, by hand application, which conforms to Highways Specification Clause 924.
It was originally designed for areas where spray application was inaccessible, but because of its ease of use has now been extended for use over greater areas such as approaches to traffic lights, road junctions and roundabouts.
When pigmented it can be used for traffic calming applications. The traditional aggregate used is bauxite which has a high PSV, but for environmental and traffic calming uses decorative stone or coloured bauxite may be used in conjunction with a coloured binder.
Natural stones used are Harden Red and Criggion Green. The bauxite can be pigmented to suit the client’s requirements for colour. Normal colours are Red and Green.
